Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of FridgeGenius ("the Service"), an AI-powered recipe generator operated by FridgeGenius ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing FridgeGenius — whether you create an account, generate a recipe, or simply browse a recipe page — you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use FridgeGenius. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction.
Description of the Service
FridgeGenius lets you input a list of ingredients (or upload a photo of your fridge) and receive AI-generated recipes paired with AI-generated food images. The Service is provided over the internet on an "as available" basis and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time without notice. We may impose daily limits on free and Premium accounts to manage costs and protect service availability; current limits are documented on the Pricing page.
Account Registration and Security
Some features require you to create a free account using a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@fridgegenius.ai if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that show signs of abuse, fraud, or violation of these Terms.
Premium Subscription, Billing, and Refunds
FridgeGenius offers a paid Premium subscription with higher daily generation limits and additional features. Premium is billed monthly via Stripe at the price displayed on the Pricing page at the time of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled before renewal. You may cancel anytime through your Profile page; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and you retain Premium access until then. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months. If you experience a billing error or technical issue that prevents you from using a paid feature, contact us at support@fridgegenius.ai within 14 days of the charge and we will review your case in good faith.
Acceptable Use
FridgeGenius is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to: (1) use the Service for any illegal, infringing, or harmful purpose; (2) attempt to bypass rate limits, daily generation caps, or other technical controls; (3) reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or copy substantial portions of the Service or its content for redistribution; (4) submit prompts intended to extract proprietary system instructions or to generate content unrelated to food and cooking; (5) impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or organization; (6) interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or other users' access; (7) use automated tools to create accounts or generate recipes in bulk without our written permission.
User Content and AI-Generated Recipes
You retain ownership of the ingredient lists and photos you submit ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and process it for the sole purpose of operating the Service and providing recipes back to you. The recipes and images we generate in response to your inputs are made available for your personal use; you may save, copy, print, share, and adapt them. Because AI models are trained on publicly available data, generated recipes may resemble existing recipes; FridgeGenius does not claim copyright on combinations of common ingredients or standard cooking methods.
AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
All recipes, descriptions, nutrition estimates, ingredient lists, and food images on FridgeGenius are generated by artificial-intelligence models (Google Gemini and Nano Banana). AI output can be incorrect, inconsistent, or omit important information. We do not independently verify, test, or fact-check the recipes before they are presented to you. Use your own judgment, taste, and cooking experience to evaluate any recipe before preparing it. If a recipe seems wrong (such as unrealistic cook times, missing steps, or unsafe combinations), do not follow it.
Food Safety, Allergies, and Dietary Disclaimer
FridgeGenius does not provide medical, nutritional, dietary, or food-safety advice. Recipes are suggestions, not prescriptions. You are solely responsible for: (1) verifying that all ingredients are safe to eat (not spoiled, expired, or contaminated); (2) cooking foods to safe internal temperatures (especially poultry, ground meat, eggs, and seafood); (3) following safe food-handling practices including hand-washing, cross-contamination prevention, and refrigeration; (4) confirming that ingredients and the final dish are compatible with any allergies, intolerances, religious requirements, medical conditions, or dietary restrictions you or your guests may have. The diet filter (e.g. "vegan," "gluten-free") is a best-effort signal to the AI and is not a guarantee. Always read every ingredient before consuming. If you have severe allergies or medical dietary needs, consult a qualified medical professional or registered dietitian before relying on AI-generated recipes.
Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF GENERATED CONTENT. To the maximum extent permitted by law, FridgeGenius and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or any damage arising from food preparation, allergic reactions, foodborne illness, equipment damage, or personal injury — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless FridgeGenius and its contributors from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (1) your use of the Service; (2) your violation of these Terms; (3) your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual-property or privacy rights; or (4) any food-safety incident, injury, or illness arising from your preparation or consumption of recipes generated through the Service.
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from the Profile page. We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice — if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, used the Service in a way that risks harm to other users or to the Service itself, or engaged in fraud or illegal activity. Upon termination, sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (including content licenses for already-generated recipes, indemnification, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved through good-faith discussion will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection laws give you stronger rights, those rights are not waived by this clause.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date below and, where required by law, notify you via email or an in-app banner before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance.
