Pat the peeled and deveined shrimp dry with paper towels to ensure they sear nicely. Mince the garlic and chop the fresh parsley.
In a large skillet, melt the butter with the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to let the garlic brown or burn.
Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
Stir in the fresh lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the chopped fresh parsley.
