Classic Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions Skillet

"A robust and flavorful one-pan dish featuring savory Italian sausage, vibrant bell peppers, and sweet onions, all sautéed to perfection with a hint of balsamic vinegar for added depth. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal."
Ingredients
All Steps
- 1
Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Mince the garlic cloves.
- 2
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove sausages from the skillet and set aside on a cutting board. Once slightly cooled, slice them into 1-inch thick rounds.
- 3
Add the sliced bell peppers and onion to the same skillet (add a touch more oil if needed). Sauté for 10-12 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp and slightly caramelized. Add the minced garlic during the last minute of cooking and stir until fragrant.
- 4
Return the sliced sausages to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the balsamic vinegar, then season with salt and black pepper. Stir gently to combine all ingredients and heat through for 1-2 minutes.
- 5
Serve hot, either on its own or with a side of crusty bread or pasta.
