Preheat oven to 375F (190C). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, 1 tablespoon of ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.

    Form the meat mixture into a small loaf shape and place it in a small baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread the remaining 1 tablespoon of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.

    Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160F (71C).

    While the meatloaf bakes, peel and cut the potatoes into 1-inch chunks. Place them in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are very tender.

    Drain the potatoes thoroughly. Return them to the hot saucepan. Add milk, butter, and the remaining 1/8 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper. Mash with a potato masher or fork until smooth and creamy.

    Once the meatloaf is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve the meatloaf slices with the creamy mashed potatoes.
